Inversions with Jerri Crowley

 Inversions with Jerri Crowley
Sunday April 28th, 2-4 pm

In this fun workshop we will explore Inversions and the freedom of being up side down! Inversions are a wonderful way to explore the bodies potential and build strength in the mind and body!
This includes headstands, shoulder stands, handstands, and some arm stands or arm balancing.
Inversions help with elimination of toxins, they increase energy and boost immunity, they increase the flow of oxygen and blood to the brain, they help stimulate the nervous system and calm the mind. They help improve circulation and strengthen the back and core abdominal muscles. And the also help with the overall improvement of posture and balance.

Jerri Crowley began practicing yoga over 20 years ago and has been teaching since 1998. She founded the Iyengar yoga program in San Angelo at Community Health Club and is a devoted yoga practitioner and teacher. Jerri's teaching style is dynamic and precise with a blend of compassion and humor. She studies regularly with Patricia Walden, Randy Just and other senior teachers. Jerri is also a Doctor of Optometry and practices at SAMS.

Free Introduction to: A Short Course In Happiness

Free Introduction to

A Short Course in Happiness by Dr. Laurence Musgrove

6 week course held June 8th - July 20, 2019

Free Preview will be held Sunday May 5th at 2 pm.

“Right now, the object of study is the subject of the self for the benefit of others, and it requires a quiet place to discipline the mind.”

In this six-week course, Dr. Laurence Musgrove, Professor of English at Angelo State University, will share an introductory survey of the basic principles and contemplative practices in the Buddhist tradition that for more than 2500 years have contributed to self-understanding and concern for others.

Prior to the course, Dr. Musgrove will offer a free afternoon preview on Sunday May 5th at 2 pm. This free class will be an overview of the course requirements, design, and content so that interested participants might learn more about the course and ask questions prior to committing to the course.

June 8: The Problems of Time, Freedom, and the Collapse of Attention: When is the best time for happiness?
June 15: The Three Trainings: What is the path that will lead us to happiness?
June 22: The Pot We Got: Who is our best teacher in happiness?
June 29: Quantum Flow and the Karma Show: Why is our happiness dependent upon the happiness of others?
July 13: Reserving a Seat: Where can we experience happiness?
July 20: Opening the Gifts of Impermanence, Egolessness, and Suffering: How do we gain practice in happiness?

Dr. Laurence Musgrove teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in creative writing, literature, visual thinking, and mindfulness. He is also the author of three books: Local Bird – a collection of poetry, One Kind of Recording – a collection of aphorisms, and Start Again, Dignity – a collection of contemporary Buddhist sutras forthcoming from Lamar University Literary Press.

For the purposes of this course, the Buddhist tradition will be understood as a non-theistic, non-sectarian, non-dualistic, non-competitive, and thus universal approach to overcoming human suffering through moral action, contemplation, and learning.

Course Starts Saturday June 8th from 2-4 pm and will be held every Saturday afternoon (except July 6) through July 20th. The 6 week course will $125 or $25 per drop in class
